Why You Should Invest in a Wedding Coordinator

One of the most popular questions I get is “what all does a wedding coordinator do?” I love this question because it is an opportunity to tell you what I do and why you’re going to love it. A day-of-coordinator can be a lifesaver for couples with all budgets and sizes of weddings. Typically this is for couples who thought they could execute their wedding all on their own, but realize closer to the day of that they need someone to come alongside them to execute the details. I always like to remind people, your mother, father, best friend, maid of honor, whoever you think “oh they can handle this for me” also wants to celebrate you on your big day!

While the title may be “day-of-coordinator” you’ll quickly realize we don’t only show up on the day of. We plan in advance, meet in person to go over all of the details you want included in your day, and are present throughout your planning process. We coordinate all of the details so you don’t have to. From talking to vendors, creating detailed timelines, telling your bridal party when to walk and when to wait, as well as all of the small details you may not have even thought of- that’s all in the job description. There is a lot of work (and hours!) that go on behind the scenes for you to get the most out of your investment.

The biggest myth about wedding coordinators? You don’t need one. As a bride once myself, looking back I have 2 things I tell newly engaged women. 1) Spend the money on the photographer, you’ll never get that opportunity for those photos ever again. 2) Hire a wedding coordinator to make your life so much easier. Wedding planning is stressful enough, do you want to carry that stress into your wedding day? Wedding coordinators can make sure your DJ has the correct song for you to walk down the aisle to, make sure vendors arrive on time and are in their places and set up before they’re needed, help manage time to make sure your day runs as smoothly as possible, did you ever consider who would cut and serve your cake when the time comes? Your wedding coordinator did. Who will be taking your newly signed marriage license home for you while you’re whisked off to a beautiful honeymoon? I bet your wedding coordinator already has that on the list of questions they’re going to ask you.

All of these things, and so much more, make it worth the investment. Looking back on your big day, you want to remember all of the little details but definitely not the stress of the little details. Your wedding day will be over in the blink of an eye, months of planning condensed into a few short hours, make sure you savor every possible second; your wedding coordinator can help you do that, too.
